Mexican Actors Favor Hair Cast Deportation
The New York Times - January 8, 1969

Mexico City, Jan. 7 (UPI) - The Mexican Actors Association defended today the Government's action in deporting foreign members of the cast of the musical Hair.

Manuel Garay, the associations secretary, said the Mexican and American producers of the Acapulco version of the "tribal love-rock musical", which has a scene in which cast members appear nude, had been warned the foreign actors would need working papers.

He said the expulsion of 13 American and two British performers should serve as a "good precedent" in avoiding future legal entanglements.

Immigration officials said the foreigners had violated their tourist status by appearing in the work Friday in a preview showing for which scalpers got $80 a ticket.
